Sentricon termite baiting and monitoring

Trust the Experts in Sentricon Termite Elimination – Over 14,000 Colonies Eliminated Since 1997

You’re in safe hands with the Great Southern’s termite baiting specialists. Company founder Mark Moyle has personally overseen the successful eradication of more than 14,000 termite colonies since 1997 using the proven Sentricon system. We guarantee to eliminate the termite colony attacking your home in a provable University developed procedure – or your money back!

What to Do When Active Termites Are Found Inside Your Home

Your home is a magnet for termites. It offers everything they need—food, moisture, shelter, and access. In many ways, it functions like a giant bait station to them. That’s why it’s critical to take immediate, strategic action to protect what is likely your most valuable asset.

At Albany Pest Control, we understand termite behaviour deeply. Our approach is never generic—each infestation is different and requires a tailored solution. If termites are found outside, a chemical barrier may be appropriate. But what if they’re already inside your home?

Stay calm. You’ve come to the right place. And whatever you do, avoid using household insect sprays—these can cause termites to retreat and spread to other areas, making the problem worse.

Effective Termite Elimination Requires More Than Just a Quick Fix

According to the Building Code of Australia, addressing visible termite activity is only part of the solution—the ultimate goal is to destroy the colony itself. That’s why we implement a comprehensive termite management program designed to eliminate the root of the problem.

While some providers may suggest a surface spray treatment, we know from experience that this is merely a temporary solution. Sprays might kill termites in the area, but the colony survives and will send out new foragers. This is why we rely on termite baiting—a proven, long-term solution.

The Science Behind Termite Baiting

Developed by entomologist Dr. Nan-Yao Su at the University of Florida and later commercialised by DowElanco, the baiting system uses insect growth regulators (IGRs)—compounds that prevent termites from maturing or reproducing. Termites feed on cellulose-rich materials like wood, cardboard, and plasterboard, so the bait mimics these food sources but contains an active IGR agent.

The bait doesn’t kill instantly. Instead, it works over time as termites share it with others in their colony through feeding and grooming. This chain reaction eventually reaches the Queen, leading to the collapse of the entire colony. Termite queens can live for decades, so eliminating her is the key to stopping the infestation permanently.

Why Sentricon Baiting Is the Smarter, Safer Choice

Sentricon is a non-invasive, environmentally conscious solution. There’s no need for drilling or widespread chemical use. The bait is safe for humans and pets—it’s even been honoured with the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award in the U.S. and is trusted at prestigious sites like the White House, the Statue of Liberty, and Royal Perth Hospital.

Our 3-Step Baiting Process

  1. Thorough Inspection
We inspect your property to locate termite entry points. Our team also uses Termatrac radar technology to identify hidden activity.
  2. Bait Station Installation
Specially designed bait stations are carefully placed where termites are active. These are positioned to ensure termites feel safe accessing them.
  3. Regular Monitoring
Monthly follow-up visits allow us to monitor bait consumption and replenish as needed. This phase is crucial to ensuring complete colony elimination.

What Makes Our Bait Unique

The bait we use is the original Sentricon formula—not a generic substitute. It’s formulated to be soft, moist, and highly palatable to termites—more appealing even than natural wood—because it’s hydrated, offering both cellulose and moisture.

When termites find and consume the bait, they lay down chemical trails for others to follow, amplifying the spread within the colony. As long as proper procedures are followed, bait stations can completely eliminate a termite colony. Our directors have personally managed more than 10,000 such successful cases.

How Long Does It Take to Eliminate a Colony?

Once bait stations are installed, we return after four weeks to assess progress and refresh the bait if necessary. Follow-up visits occur at four-week intervals until we confirm colony elimination, following guidelines established by the University of Florida. A typical colony of up to five million termites may take 3 to 6 months to fully eradicate.

Why Not Just Spray Inside?

Yes, we could apply a surface spray inside your home—but that would only mask the issue temporarily. Termites will simply relocate and continue feeding elsewhere. Only once we’ve confirmed the colony is gone do we recommend applying a perimeter chemical barrier to guard against future infestations from new colonies.
